Went out for a couple of hours tonight, not expecting much, just needed to wind down after spending the day on a roof, but I unearthed half a roman coin(ID please if possible)which is the only roman thing I've found on the farm despite searching it for years.
Later I had a really strange signal, started digging it and thought its probably iron and scraped the soil back in the hole and carried on searching but got a couple of steps and thought to myself I've never found gold with the GMP so I don't know what the signal would sound like and curiousity got the better of me so I went back to it. I dug out a spade full of soil and the strange signal was still there so took another scoop out and scanned it again,it now said it was iron so I scanned the pile of earth next to the hole and the detector squealed!
Think its a Mary groat(well, whats left of one anyway)and if it is its the first coin of Mary I've had.
What do people think?
