Swansea digs archaeology
Section Culture | Published on 10 Jul 2011

A mini archaeological dig for children, prehistoric pot making, medieval archery and Roman cookery are among the diverse offerings at a special archaeology day in Swansea next Saturday (July 16).

Archaeology for All is a free event at Swansea Museum by the Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust and the museum. It is a celebration of archaeology and the heritage of Swansea and other local spots and it starts the fortnight long Festival of British Archaeology.

A collection of local historical societies will discuss their research projects and finds, including metal detectors, family history services and other local groups.

In the lecture rooms there will be talks on the Arfordir Coastal Management Project, The 'CU @ Swansea' copper works conservation project and the Medieval Swansea project researched by Swansea University Medieval and Early Modern History Department.

The free event runs from 10.30am to 4pm.
