Thanks all, Wont be able to get back on to the site for a while as the crop is coming up. Will keep you all informed as to what it turns out to be. Have been looking at images of saxon disc pendants, and it does look very similar! Does anyone know if saxon gold ever been found in wales?
Geoff, I really hope it won't get to that but will keep it in mind!
Cheers

Hi all, thanks for all your comments! Bit of an update - have had another ID from Mark Lodwick, and he's spot on with this one! It's a late bronze age (ewart park stage) lock ring 950-750bc. Mark only knows of another 3 found in wales and they are thought to be of irish origin. Well chuffed!! Here is a link to a complete one Grin

Outstanding Trys - that a piece of damn old Gold you have there - I bet you cant wait to get back on site. I bet Mark was excited about it as well.

Congratulations mate - really pleased for you. Its another first for the site as well - a DetectingWales member turning up Bronze Age gold gold lock ring.

How would it have been worn - did Mark say?

Hi Neil, The crop has come up on that field so won't be able to get back until the autumn unfortunately Sad

It would have been worn in the hair hence the gap to slide around the hair. Makes you wonder who lost it, was it a man or woman and were they of importance and how did it get there! This is my first bit of treasure and also the oldest thing by far that i've found - previously a shortcross penny of Richard 1st.
