I know there have been one or discussions about Cow horn protectors and I've read them with interest. BUT - it never occurred to me that I'd found one till today. Definately I.D'd buy someone who knows.
So I took a couple of pici's to post and then remembered I'd got something, somewhere that was much the same. I dug it out of the grot and YES it's another.
And there was me thinking they were door knobs. Roll Eyes

You can tell they are cow horn ends by the cuts in the side for gripping when screwing on, and the very coarse thread inside for cutting into the horn. A doorknob would have a fine thread if any at all.

I've had posts saying they're poker handles or horse decoration.

I think Eric is right when he says they're more likely to be cow horn protectors.
