Couple of questions from a newbie,

I managed to download the Crown estates licence, do I need to print it out and carry it with me?

Also are there any beaches in S.Wales which are privately owned where permission to detect needs to be sought?

Thanks.

answer to both questions is yes.

if you want to see which beaches are owned by the crown, then go back to the crown estates website, and you will find some pdf's showing the crown beaches around the uk.

Just got my permit, I think I will need it on my beach. I just had T4 today, every year I find about £200 in change over the next few days. I'm sure someone from the crown will be hovering around, lol

I just downloaded my permit from email to mobile phone and saved it....im guessing thats ok? are there officials walking round checking on who has or hasnt got 1? and if you didnt have 1 what would be the penalty? seems pretty stupid as it appears anyone who applys for one gets one in around 5 mins ,i imagine from an aurtomated email......and as you dont pay for it ,and dont need to fulfill any requitrements ,they might just as well not bother........still i guess no sense makes sense......unless of course if enough people apply they might think its worth charging a fee?

One or two of us have speculated the same Douglas. Lets hope our Prime Minister doesn't get hold of the figures  Shocked

You can get asked to produce it depending where you are. I know Tenby had a purge during 2011 and threatened to confiscate detectors if users were caught without a permit a second time.Didn't come to anything though.

Good afternoon to all out there,
Just tried to go to the crown estate website that is posted and kept getting bad host. Instead I managed at this site for a licence http://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/coastal/metal-detecting/ there is a lead from there with all the maps etc.
