Fosse Way Rally

                         Fosse way rally   april 24th 2011
We set off at the un-earthly hour of 6 o’clock from Pontypridd and  6.15.at Nantgarw. After picking up three more members along the M4 we had 23 travellers onboard.
We were heading for Shakespeare country, just south of Stratford-upon-Avon. Warwickshire. For a rally at Pillerton Priors on the Fosse Way.
After a short stop at services on the M5 we continued on our merry way . Despite some differences of opinion between the sat navs and the conventional map we arrived on site at 9 0’clock.             
We were greeted with the sight of a Welsh flag flying proudly alongside the flag of St.George over the caravan being used as the sign-on point . John Williams the rally organiser had scoured the shops in the midlands looking for a Welsh flag to no avail, but last week on a short holiday in Somerset, he found one and flew it in our, and the other Welsh attendees, honour. The gesture was greatly appreciated.
There were eight fields of pasture to detect on , with varying heights of grass to negotiate. As usual most of us found grotty copper coins,buckles,buttons,musket balls, shot gun cartridge caps, etc. etc.
The star of the rally, with a fantastic gold hammered, was Ian John . It was only his second hammered ever, and what a cracker it was !
