YE will be the name or initials of the person commisioning the brooch.

Q is the year of production, the style of the Q will show which century. Last letter is the exact year.

so, you have a brooch made by or for someone called YE in 1867. Probably not silver though, silver plated?

I think.

Nice find. The marks on this do not correspond to any that I am familiar with. Possibly a foreign mark?

I have scoured world marks and cant find anything with this combination of letters. The nearest I can find is silver plated marks for items made by chinese makers in hong kong. Even these dont exactly match though. I did find an interesting account of a counterfeit silver mark being investigated in London at the turn of the century. Maybe an unrecognised maker and assay letters?

Are there any other marks on the brooch?
