I decided that I would try my luck for another few hours before work and returned to the last field I was searching on Tuesday with Pipster.
Not anything fantastic but I did manage three more Roman grots, A nice complete but squashed flat top thimble with spiral indents dating it to the late 16th -17th century. Buckles have never floated my boat but I must admit even I was quite taken with how ornate the tiny 17th century one is, bottom right. I also got a decorated small pot leg, age as yet unknown.
If I'm not aching too much and can get up, I'll be back there tomorrow.
