A BRAND new guide book sweeps away hundreds of years of history to reveal the glories of a major Roman fort in Gelligaer, Caerphilly.

It’s one of the key elements of an interpretation project helped by Richard Brewer, Keeper of Archaeology & Numismatics at National Museum Wales, who has updated the old guide to bring the story to life with pictures and reconstructions of the site.

Councillor Wynne David said: “It’s a really good read.”

For a copy of the guidebook and new walk leaflets, send a large self-addressed and stamped A4 envelope to Roman Guide Book, Gelligaer Community Council, Llwyn Onn, Penpedairheol, Hengoed, CF82 8BB, or call into St Catwg’s Hall in Gelligaer.
