One of metal detecting forums has a on line petition  for stiffer penalties for nighthawks. Do agree with this and should we join in.

I personally do agree with this. Nighthawkers are doing damage to the reputation of this hobby. Its illegal and we are all getting tarred with the same brush. If we as a forum push for stiffer penalties then we are sending out a big message to those that would have the hobby banned, that only a very small minority of detectorists are nighthawkers, and we are happy for those that break the rules to get punished.

Is it worth us starting out own petition as well, so its 'in house' so to speak
