Interesting topic Kev. I know most detectorists don’t give farmers a thing which I think is a bit mean, especially if a farmer has an interest in the history of his farm. I acknowledge most farmers aren’t interested but there are a few who are. Mark and I always try and knock a display together for any farmer who is interested in what we find. I have seen some pretty appalling displays from detectorists with some absolute dross, so we take care to put some decent stuff in.  This modest display was for a couple who own a small farm local to me. We didn’t find much but we did include the only hammered coin we found: their reaction in itself was as gratifying as any find I have made.

Handyman and I decided to give our farmer's wife the Edwardian 15ct bar brooch from their pea field for Christmax last year. She's planning now to have it restored and wear it on special occasions...
