He looks like Marcus Aurelius to me. I'll have a better look when I get home on a decent sized monitor Cheesy

**Edit** If it is Marcus Aurelius then the reverse is most likely (from what I can see) " Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus shaking hands"

Alan, I had a better look at your coin earlier. I'm sticking with Marcus Aurelius Smiley

thank you very much Pon for taking the time to look it up. It is much appreciated indeed. If it is Marcus, then it has some significance in the field that we are searching. Its the first roman off it that we have found, though i am aware of a julia domna being found some time ago!!

thanks for taking the time Pon.

Cheers

You should look harder Smiley

I'm convinced it's this one:-

Septimius Severus AE Sestertius. 194 AD. L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP III, laureate head right / MONET AVG COS II P P, the three Monetae standing facing, heads left, each holding scales and a cornucopiae, SC in ex. Cohen 336.

You're right I should look harder Roll Eyes  Without doubt there are 3 people on the reverse, not two as I first thought. I think your id is right on the money...I can only apologise and I promise to try harder from now on  Grin Grin Grin
