Hi all, I found this one about 2 hours ago and waited till I got home to clean it, I tried to do a before and after photo for you, but it never really got any better, at least I can now make out a date, 1575 Elizabeth 1st.

markymark, I read your post and thought id give it another rub with tin foil. I got abit more out of the coin but its just too far gone, it must of been in a poor grade when lost.
heres another example of a better grade coin that maybe just needed a little water but I like a prat used toothpaste and took 450 years of tone straight off in less than 10 seconds! il never rub with toothpaste again!!

Ps. that 1 was not one of my finds its a friends stever.

Try wrapping it in silver paper (the ends not too tight) and put it in with a spoonful of soda crystals. Then pour enough boiling water in too immerse it. When it stops fizzing take it out and give it a rub with a soft cloth. If it turns black don't panic as that will come off. You can repeat the process if necessary. However, don't do this too anything too good, or if the coin is nicely toned grey.
