I think the metal on mine is a bit more degraded than yours. Shame. Doesn't look much like brass to me.

oh but i do mean it .... the detail is exquisite, now add a bit of clean engine oil, let it dry thoroughly and then buff it up with a soft cloth

Yes Alan, you did forget to mention the Brasso. But not to worry I used it anyway. Grin

MarkyMark. Have a look on Detecting Finds on the Forum. Look for 'One for The Military Buff' posted by Hanyman(ALAN)  Thats where he gives us his method of cleaning.
