Does remind me of the spanner, but that coin if for reference is a bit large in that case, is that a 5p for size reference ?

I can see a diamond pattern on the right hand side, could be part of a decorated fitment of some kind, but I think it will be destined to become one of those unknown bits of stuff in the icecream tub of doom as a holding place before it eventually gets the trip to its final resting place. I've got a nice collection of similar objects in my tub Grin

I'm with Alan on the coin, Roman grot from the late 3rdC. (Saxon or Celtic bronze isn't even worth considering around these parts)  and as Da Monkey has said the fitting will probably remain a mystery item. Just a hint for future reference, if using a coin as a size scale use either a 5p or show the reverse rather than the obverse Wink
