After finding my first saxon sceat a few weeks back i wanted to go back and see if there was anymore, well today was a day off and frost was  all gone so rang my buddy roger g  and back we went,  Roger found an awesome hammy  and me found this bad boy





can anyone help with an id please.

Excellent find Alan and I hope the Doc has got a better clue than me  Grin But my feeling is that it's a continental issue (Holland) type D or E so 700 to 750 AD.
And can I ask you that if you find any more Roll Eyes Just keep it to yourself, because if envy is a mortal sin then I'm well on the way to hell Grin

Great find!!

I'm with Geoff on this - Series D, Type 8, Continental sceatta , although the obverse is very crude and simplified.

LOL no it can't be Osberht as he didn't have Sceats, they had moved over to Stycas (bronze) by his time. And if we are right about it being continental then it isn't anyone in the UK.
