A SILVER clothes buckle dating back to the Saxon era has been discovered by two keen archaeologists.
David Sewell, 52, of New Road, Northchurch, and Mark Becher, 37, from Uxbridge, are regularly unearthing ancient treasure as the heads of firm The Metal Detectors.
They also run the shop Hidden History in Berkhamsted High Street, selling some of their ancient finds, which are up to 2,000 years old.
The pair have an agreement with farmers to lead searches for ancient treasure with metal detectors across 12,000 acres of land.
More than 100 people are members of the group and go digging with them every week.
They include Ian Piggott, the only metal detector allowed on digs by Oxford University.
The Metal Dectectors have found items including Roman coins, ancient rings, buttons of ancient army uniforms and thousands of bullets from Second World War planes.
