hi all.
went out earlyer for a few hours with julie and her friend helen who has reciently joined the forum.as hellywelly.helen.lol.things got off to a good start with helen as it was.nt long before she.d found her first george v half-penny i must say she was well pleased.she looked it..lol..suppriseing what a georgean can do if you.ve never seen one before..lol..it was.nt long after that she found a geogean penny by now she.s hooked..inbetween helen calling me  every two minutes.lol i was also bringing up a few georgans also julie had a georgean or two..then helen called me over just once again and i helped her dig the hole. i new it was a large target i was going to tell her leave it there.then i decieded to dig the hole..and this lovely looking ship was stairing right at me.
we seem to think it maybe from a brush handle for the old fire grates.or maybe the shuvel..it looks like something my grand-parents had by the side of the open fire to sweep up the ashes..if we are correct.
does anyone know what it is.and possible give us a rough date.

well done them girls .. [and ray].  yes i would be happy to agree with your ID of the ship object. I too recall my parents having something similar ... come to think about it, it may be in my garage .. it will give me an excuse to clear it up tomorrow to try and find it.
