I am sure most of you will have heard of the Limlock (link below for those who have not).

http://www.joanallen.co.uk/a_moreinfo_limlock.html

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=limlock&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I was quite keen on one for my E-Trac due to the bad design of the original arm support and inadequate length of the strap on it. But I was very unsure if it was any good or not, and I could not find any real reviews or discussion on the net or Utube to help me make up up my mind (a few videos but no real reviews).

Well I decided to take a punt and buy one from Joan Allan (not directly but on Ebay because they are selling them from £19.95 delivered on there).

Well Mr Postman braving the snow delivered it this morning and after fitting it to my E-Trac I am very happy with it indeed! Obviously I have not used it in anger but my initial thoughts on this is it is very good, not too flimsy, lightweight and the closing mechanism is very clever and works a treat and offers good support. No more trying to get my arms through the straps!

The one for the E-Trac is the model 1 design. There is a Utube video that suggest it don't anchor onto the detector very well, but I think this might be the model 2 as mine looks different and is secured very well to the E-Trac.

Hope this review helps anyone thinking of buying one of these. Any other info needed let me know and if you need pictures I can upload one, although there are quite a few on the net.

Hi all,

Something I forgot to mention in my original review was that, the limlock attachment don't cover as much as the detector arm as the original cuff and you will be left with a bit of a gap (a slit on the handle where the original one attached). But this is really not a problem, I just used vet tape to cover this over as can be seen in the photos.

I already had most of the top part covered with vet tape anyway to protect the detector (vet tape - also highly recommended can be purchased on eBay or any Equestrian shop - it's the stuff they wrap around horses legs and is perfect for protecting the detectors as it sticks but don't leave any marks and can easy be taken off).

Not sure when I will get to test the limlock in the field due to the obvious weather conditions, but as soon as I get out I will update this thread with any findings. From initial tests indoors though it is very comfortable and does work well.

Pictures attached as requested - hope this helps.

Yes seen this video cheers - it's the standard one the Limlock people have put out.

 - but as mentioned there were no real independant reviews of this product (i.e. if it was really any good or not) - hence my review above, in the hope it will help anyone else in two minds about it.

cheers all,
Jonathan

By way of an update on this - now I have used it in the field a few times.

I am still very happy with this and glad I purchased it. Works much better than the original cuff, seems robust and is light weight (god knows that's a big plus on the ETrac). Still no hesitation in recommending this now that I have used it in anger.
