I have 3 very different machines and all have their pro's and cons. At Chepstow, I used all 3, just to give me some variety.
Teknetics T2- Like a thoroughbred race horse. Stunningly good, very sensitive and needs a fair bit of concentration to get the most out of it. Sometimes its tooooo sensitive and when you end up digging up tiny minute rubbish it can be a bit tiresome. Brilliant on silver and on heavily mineralised/naily ground. can be a bit weary at the end of a long day due to having to concentrate on your audio inputs but it doesn't miss much. Not burdened with gimmicks but just the sensible and valid scope of adjustments to suit your preferred detecting style and conditions.
Laser Trident 2 - Super light, sensitive and having no screen, it means you can detect and enjoy the scenery and just use your ears. The machine of choice for when its raining as you can just wrap a bag over the control box and it doesn't matter as there is no screen to obscure. Vague pinpointing compared to the T2 and R1. Brilliant on naily ground and see's silver through the iron. Downside?, you do dig a bit of large iron. Great for detecting hilly ground due to its light weight and ideal for a days lazy detecting.
C Scope R1 - A good, solidly built workhorse that is simple to use. NEVER digs irons and being 7hz, it's got superb depth on larger coins and artefacts. Not so sensitive to smaller objects. Easy on the ears as it farts for iron and beeps for everything else the way mine is set up. Deadly accurate pinpointing. The R1 has a unique (and damned good idea) of a graphic display of what the coil is actually seeing in the ground. You can even ID objects before you dig them. As a demo, I once showed a friend an iron signal and said " that'll be a 6'' nail and its bent" .He laughed, I dug, and out came a bent 6'' nail!! . A great coin machine.
3 machines, all very different and a good reportoire to have in the armoury
