I have my own thoughts on who this "little beauty" Roll Eyes is. I would like a second, third, fourth opinion etc etc. Thank you in advance for your identifications Smiley

The second coin came off the same field...how can one be so different from the other?? I suppose I shouldn't complain and be happy that the second denarius dosen't look like the first Cheesy

Yes, such a contrast between the two. That second is a cracker. Well done.

I agree with the Doc that it is undoubtably Severus Alexander.

The reverse looks like a 'IOVI CONSERVATORI' type, but the letters don't fit.

If you could clean some more of the crud off it, it might be easier

There are a few other 'PM TRP etc' types as well it could be , but again the letters fit and neither does IOVI STATORI, which I initially thought off.

It looks possibly as if it is a fouree - if so it could be a hybrid with a 'Neptune' reverse.

Thanks to everyone for your id's and comments. Smiley  I'll try and remove a bit more "crud" off the reverse...I have a feeling it wont go too well. Smiley

Just soak the coin for a few days (some people suggest water, others various types of oil, usually olive) - then gently remove the crud using a wooden toothpick (some people would suggest a fire hardened wooden toothpick). If it isn't a fouree, then a couple of minutes in some weak acid followed by gentle rubbing with an old sponge might help too.
