welcome to dw and to a great hobby , 1st decide what type of detecting you want to do , beach inland or both

some machines will do both some only inland , there are many many machines out there to look at , read posts on here buy a few mags etc before you commit to buying , many beginers (and experienced) detectorists go for the garrett ace 250 great machine and very reasonably priced , oh and dont wear steel toe cap workboots  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

We are total beginners (literally started last week and out for the second time tomorrow).
For what its worth I have found the Garrett EuroAce very easy to use,as for versatility I cant comment because ive only used it on an inland field (pasture), I have read very mixed opinions on the internet about its performance on the beach.
Very happy with it so far though.
