Poem for the Miners

[Tafflaff (Rob)]

Four Mighty Souls
 
They've cut their final coal,
From the mountains soaking seams.
No longer will they hurt,
Or sweat from darkened dreams.
For they the mighty four now rest,
Upon angels soothing wings.
No longer will they toil their days
Or fear what morning brings.
Though mortal angels toiled and strived,
To bring them safely home.
Their souls had left this earthly place,
Just heaven now to roam.
But they the mighty four we know,
Will stay in our hearts and minds.
For we the Welsh owe our heritage,
To that brave and selfless kind.

                          Four Welshmen stood at the Pearly Gates
Their heads were bent and low
They meekly asked the man of fate
The way that they should go
"What have you done?" St. Peter said
... ... "To gain admission here"
"We merely mined for coal" they said
"For many and many a year"
St. Peter opened wide the gate
And softly tolled the bell
"Come and choose your harps" he said
"You've had your share of Hell".
