Title: Halfpenny, but is it Eddie IV
Post by: Techony on February 16, 2011, 07:29:47 PM
Hi Peter,

The best I can come up with for this one is Edward IV halfpenny. Luckily, they've clipped off almost all of the inscription on the obverse and the mint on the reverse. So we are left with CIVI / TAS visible which is really useful, LOL!

Would be grateful to hear your views if I'm wrong again  ;D

Hi Tony,

Nice find even though it's clipped. I think this is one of those where a best guess will have to do, and I agree it is most likely to be an Edward IV halfpenny, mint uncertain.

Hi Napoleon,

Best thing for a hangover: a wee dram o'malt whisky  ;D

The halfpenny was found on a field that had recently been in stubble. I've still to find my first hammie on pasture. Don't worry mate, yours is out there somewhere, hopefully at the rally this weekend...

Happy Hunting,
