Hi Rob

What sort of permission do you need to go mudlarking on the Themes ?

I read in and old Treasure hunting that Copper nails (from copper clad Ships) where worth a few pounds each to collectors :o

all the best Phil !

Geoff . could we start a thread maybe on 'Trip Ideas' , not so much a rally , but an organised trip to places like the thames or certain beaches. Just a thread that people can throw ideas around maybe?

Thanks for the info Rob (Vane) i,ll have a look at that later ;0)

Rob (taff) good idea Last year our club (RARE) was going to the British Museum Via coach but it never came off;0( something to do with the Bus company we used had to apply for a permit or something like that.

Maybe a Museium trip or Bath even !

Would like to try that on the river usk where it pours out into the channel.Dodgy tides and lots of dodgy mud though.Think I might get myself down to the foreshore at redwick,or goldcliff in newport during the summer.nice bit of beach combing!

hi  Rob  can anyone go mudlarking on the thames , ? or do you require a permit  noticed there was a lead token in the picture, was that also an eyes only find . looks good fun  mick

Mick  the lead token was eyes only and you do need a permit, most of finds are very shallow. Phil I dont know about
coach load on health safety grounds, but check with Steve Booker 07854873299 and you want stop over night the
YHA Thameside is beside the Thames and quite cheap 08707706010.

I'm just so jealous Rob, one thing I want to do before I rotate off this world of ours is to go Mudlarking on the Thames Foreshore  :'(

Great finds mate.
