can anyone give me advice i dont know nothing about detevting but paid 11pounds for a metal detector off eby a micronta will i find anything with it this is what the add says You are bidding on a Micronta Metal detector. Excellent condition still in box

- Adjustable Discriminator Circuit - Water resistant 15.2cm coil - Shaft extends to 91.4cm - Very light ( less than 900g ) - Instant pushbutton tuning
Uses six AA 1.5V Batteries ( Not supplied )

Unwanted gift iam gonna give it go and make myself famous i love the atticipation of finding something worth a lot of money and i know a few places aswell

It may be O.K. as a starting machine, may be o.k for shallow stuff on the beach,  but you'll need to upgrade to a better one later,, get some practice in out the garden by burying a coin or ring in a plastic bag a couple of inches deep,  also with a bit of steal for the discim. practice.
 for £11 i suppose its worth  the risk to get yourself into it.

Also do not expect to get rich quick and find a gem with every turn of the spade. The ground is full of metal rubbish and ringpulls that give the same signal as hammered coins is just one example.. Get the picture. You will have to upgrade from this detector but it is a good start as Alan said just to get the feel for the hobby. Time and perseverance will be your best starting tool and get advice from your fellow detectorists.
