Title: 1919 Penny with left facing Britania ? ? ?
Post by: Terra (Mike) on August 01, 2010, 03:17:32 PM
Got me stumped , found today, in Brean on my first day out for three months, i have tried looking it up , but can't find any mention of Britania facing left,, for that date she should be facing right ,     any ideas anyone......

Oh!  and i unearthed a gold engagement ring, a beautiful 1921 Penny and a 1939 Half penny , not bad for my firt 40 minutes back,,,,, that was enough though.

Well done Mike I bet it felt great to be out again. Nice to hear from you again and I think you should speak to the Doc, Peter H about the Britannia. If any one can tell you he can.

Thanks , it did feel good , when the ring came up , my faith returned , i was considering packing it in, thought i'd never get  back out, but i'm back ,

It would be good to get some info on the penny as i am baffled , i can't find any mention on one anywhere, i've googled everything thing i can think off , with no results

That could be quite a find Mike, I just dug one of my 1919 pennies out and yes indeed she is facing right as normal. Nothing in Spink about there being a left facing version.
