Title: Help Needed Please.......... Post by: 150aceboy on March 29, 2010, 04:00:30 PM Hi all, lately i have been finding lots of these bag seals. In fact 31 of them to date all on the same field.
Most are different , but the last couple are of this type below. A.R.Richou Frere Angers , and on the reverse BM Can anyone help to identify the company , and the contents of the bag. I have surfed the internet but had no joy, any help much appreciated. The only thing i have found so far is that Angers is a place in France and Frere is a French surname ??? ??? Post by: Chef Geoff on March 29, 2010, 05:50:26 PM Hi Ace, they are some nice bag seals, Ok the name Richou is not the most uncommon name in France but in Angers in the Anjou region there are only a few and this one in particular would fit with what you are looking for.
they were or are a very wealthy family, looking at there profession I would say the sacks contained eitherSeed, flour or grain for milling. (so could you be on the site of an old mill?) the"A.R. Richou Brothers" denote they are 19thC. the A.R stands for Alexander (II) (1835-1897) and René-Eugene (1841-1900).
