Title: Staffordshire Hoard finder Terry Herbert in million pound payout
Post by: Sexy Legs (Leighton) on March 23, 2010, 09:36:01 PM
The amateur treasure hunter man who unearthed Britain’s greatest hoard of Anglo Saxon gold with a metal detector bought at a boot sale for £2.50 is to receive a multi-million pound windfall after it was bought for the nation.

The National Heritage Memorial Fund announced today that it is to contribute £1,285,000 of the £3.3 million needed to prevent the hoard of 1,500 gold objects being broken up and sold privately.

would be a shame to lose national treasure to another nation for the simple fact of lack of funds, should congratulate everybody that has raised money to keep our heritage.

wow,  great stuff,  so it should be kept together too, and kept in this country too,
a guy i talk to on the bus bought a compass detector in a boot sale not so long back for £5,  the receipt in the box was for $625.  it wasn't very old, but he couldn't get it to work properly, in the end he took of the fiber glass coil cover that looked rough,  then all of a sudden it worked great,  he found a great silver charm bracelet down the beach a couple of weeks ago with it, over 10" deep.  he may come to one of our meetings soon he said,
 Alan
