Title: Fisher F75 beach settings Post by: PHIL YNYSBOETH on March 13, 2010, 01:37:52 AM Before i bought an F75 I read more than once about how poor they performed on wet sand
but after a lot of advice off Saxonman,John Williams (Sorry John Cant remember your Dw user name) and Jeb (Mr F75) Ive found this isn't the case. My 1st outing on the wet stuff at Porthcawl was a total disaster, with the detector howling clicking and popping ;0( turning the sense down made little Differant ;0( I did manage to winkle out a 1 pence piece but this was poor consolation for a pair of perforated ear drums lol My 2nd outing at the RARE Annual Token Hunt was a lot more productive, following advice I Manually ground balanced, settling for a value of 1 (that gave the most stability) and lowered the Sens to around 20. If you manually GB, the setting stays the same in either Discrimination mode or all metal motion on Terra fir-ma generally anything with a digital value of over 18 is worth digging and it seems the same for wet sand. Anything with a digital number that jumped around was always a target with an high ferrous content. I dont think the Fisher F75 has the Depth of my old Explorer 2 on wet sand, but the speed of recovery and the weight of the machine is a real plus point. Id love to hear peoples thoughts on the F75 and wet sand as i intend to do a lot more Beaches this summer and any help it fine tuning will be great ! Default is fine its the most stable, dont use Jewelley coz its a bit lively ;0) ATB Phil |
