Title: FINDS IN THE WOODS

as we detect a lot in fields how many of you venture into the wooded area  ???..... if  there is a wood about i always try to do some of it, and whats the best you have found in the wood ;) mine is this LIZZY 1ST SHILLING 1602 end of her rein. ;)

That was a cracking find Kev, the only thing i hate by venturing in the woods are the dreaded roots  >:( >:(

don't let that get to you ACE m8 as i found this buckle (1600 to 1720 last year under tree roots took a bit of digging but never give in m8

with finds like that take a axe as well as detector,,, seems to be worth it

yep i think a little hatchet is great for getting troublesome roots  out of the way , same as a brick hammer for getting stuff out of rocky old paths ,,,in both instances give yourself plenty of room from the {tool} to the find.

If I Know I'm going detecting in woods, I carry one of these which make short work of roots. Its A 8" folding saw made by Stanley Tools

mmm thats a nice Groat Casa,   a nice buckle too  whenever iv'e tried the woods they are full of small roots and shotgun cartridges , doh
