Title: My thoughts on my C Scope R1 Post by: Junkman on February 27, 2010, 05:08:16 PM A good, solidly built workhorse that is simple to use. NEVER digs irons and being 7hz, it's got superb depth on larger coins and artefacts. Not so sensitive to smaller objects. Easy on the ears as it farts for iron and beeps for everything else the way mine is set up. Deadly accurate pinpointing. The R1 has a unique (and damned good idea) of a graphic display of what the coil is actually seeing in the ground. You can even ID objects before you dig them. As a demo, I once showed a friend an iron signal and said " that'll be a 6'' nail and its bent" .He laughed, I dug, and out came a bent 6'' nail!! . A sensible range of adjustments are accessed via the front Screen and as well as factory pre-sets, there are two user settings that can store your favourite settings. Notch discrimination in a Reject/accept formatt is handy if you are bugged by 12 bore caps as you can just notch them out. A great coin machine.
It's no lightweight but is very well balanced by having the Batterbox back at the Elbow and batteries (8 X AA's) last for ages. Being solid is is a good machine for stubble bashing !! My first detector was a C scope when i was about 10 years old, never found much other than ring pulls mind, i waited until i was 45 to try the hobby again properly, but evidently C scope have been at it for quite some time.

I don't think they help themselves by having a confusing range of machines and in some cases, a slightly dated appearance but they do the job, they are well built and C Scope customer service is superb 8)
Title: Re: My thoughts on my C Scope R1 Post by: rjm on February 27, 2010, 06:40:38 PM My very first detector over 20 years ago was a CS2M and my buddy had a CS2MX2, which he still has and has only had. He has found stuff with it but doesn't get out much now due to work commitments.
I suspect C Scope may not be popular amongst the detecting fraternity due to it being seen as a beginners 'make'. I have seen adverts for some of their machines and wouldn't mind trying them but there isn't much in the way of field test/reviews or other users to compare notes, etc. I used to detect with an old guy who used a C Scope Metadec (non motion machine) and by goodness he couldn't half find stuff. Used a scredwriver to dig....the pinpointing was that good! I wouldn't mind having a go of one or two C Scopes but don't want to pay out for the privilege! |
