Title: out in the snow on llantrisant common
Post by: Gadget(Ian) on December 29, 2009, 04:00:48 PM
went out for a mornings detecting with taff and roman ray.we found a few bits and pieces.
one interesting bit i found was a lantrisant token 3d(I know llantrisant spelt with 1 L on the coin)mmm got me thinking and looking.
The pub was the Horse & Groom Inn. R Lewis.looking up the pubs in 1840 lantrisant had 27 pubs could not find horse and groom until i noticed Morgan Evans sold The Boot Inn about the 1850s to Rodrick Lewis for £450.
He then renamed the pub the Horse & Groom Inn.
so that kept me out of trouble for the afternoon and i know where the token comes from and its date. ;) ;D ;D ;D.
cheers.
ian.

Always lovely to find a little history behind the finds. I enjoy that as much as the detecting. Congrats on the find. Well done in this weather. I can't find the main road up here in the hills.

Interesting find Ian , those tokens are so interesting and great to trace back. Only notable find for me was this Argentinian 10 Centavos 1945 . What was that doing there ?
