Title: XP Deus
Post by: rjm on December 02, 2009, 05:31:40 PM
It appears that the UK distributor, Regtons, had their supplies of the XP Deus delivered today.

My uderstanding is that they haven't had as many machines as they'd have liked, and dealers are
not sure whether they will get all they asked for (probably not!).

Regtons will NOT be having a second supply of Deus this side of 2009. Further supplies probably won't be
until mid- late Jan 2010.

It is possible that even those that have put a deposit on one may not have their machine due to the limited supply.

I spoke to one dealer who was not even sure what they would be charging until they knew their supply but expected to charge about £1250 for machine/heaphones only.

I hope to hear from my supplier if I'm one of the lucky ones and if so if I'll get it this week.

You're right there, Colin.

But a seriously light detector helps when you're out for a good few hours.

I've had all makes of detector and the XP's, in my humble opinion, are the best quality made.
I've got no reason to doubt that the Deus will be any different in this respect which is what
most of the doubters seem to be saying.

I've never seen so many mixed reports before a machine is even out! ???

;D  Over the years I'm out  of pocket with this detecting lark. Love the hobby and if any goodies or hoard
come my way that'll be very nice.

I think I've got more chance of winning the lottery though!   :)

I think I did say that I love the hobby and if anything came my way it would be nice. I never said I was in it to make money. If I was in it to make money you'd think I'd have realised by now and given up!!!  LOL

tried one at a rally last month ,they are fast light robust great design  great as you can be safe playing in the rain without damage .
certainly a deep detector yet not as deep as minelab se but it is fatigue free unlike my se the depth test found a eddie penny 3/4 of it laying flat close to 9inches down which will blow most machines away .
ideal build for 10 minutes to 15 hours detecting get extra insurance as it will get screen breakages perhaps  plus coil .
all the best enjoy it

It looks as though Regton only had one third of the Deus machines they ordered, delivered to them.

As a result most of the delaers have not had their expected stock delivered..

I haven't had mine and now await the next shipment from France. I doubt it will be this side of Christmas.

I'm told problems have been caused by XP moving factory right in the middle of trying to keep up with
demand of producing the Deus ! :'(

Oohh, i can see the want factor dropping because of this, orders cancelled and retail value dropping.
You'll pick one up for a grand end of next month ;D

Karl

As they're in short supply......they're more desirable...and therefore cost more to buy........and will retain
their value better !!! :)

It's the desirability factor.... The Ferrari of the detector world. (My dream car is the Bugatti Veyron, however, but I'm still saving as it's £800K)

you may be right /or they may rush a few get some wrong and  be kicked back .
why release too soon if they could not meet supply early on ,i ask?
if they sold 2000  and they are  not as good as some thought they sold 2000 , but if they release 1000 and moans groans from joe public as we do the colours wrong the buttons too small my ipod cant dock init mush, sort it out .
very hard to cope with that backlash  like people with etrac /se not the same machines the etrac is more sensitive to small targets deeper on small targets and fast around iron yet people who run the etrac down who couldnot use a machine if it auto did it all could have harmed the sales .
so although having a slow rate  going out may rise prices , i dont think they will , it is a fast detector light and worth £800 to £999  max not £1295 mark .
if it drops to the lower price it will outsell etracs new machine next july/sept

The XP Deus (without 100g control box attached) is 855g  (1.9 Lbs)

The  Minelab E-Trac is 2177g (with batteries)                     (4.8Lbs)

As you can see there is almost 3 Lbs difference. Quite considerable in metal detecting terms. Like carrying around a bag and a half of sugar for a few hours. No wonder Minelab Explorer and ET users are having tennis elbows, aches,  shoulder problems, etc etc.

And even by Goldmaxx standards the XP Deus is going to excel around iron. The XP Deus may not be as deep in some situations as the ET but depth isn't everything. If you're not comfortable, your unlikely to be concentrating fully and therefore possibly not detect all you should!

People say that the machine doesn't really give a lot over what's on the market. I disagree somewhat as it's the latest battery technology and electronics (processor speed etc), plus the lightest detector on sale. And it's all cordless including  the headphones. Plus you don't have to worry about the weather damaging your detector!!!
Plus you can select the frequency you want to use to optimise the targets you are searching for.

I think it's some way off before we get ground radar on a stick producing colour pics of what's under the soil up to a couple of feet!!

I don't understand these moaners griping that it's nothing radically new on the market. What did Minelab do? Brought out a similarish E Trac (albeit better performing?) machine to the ones they had on the market that are damn heavy and don't even have cordless headphones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What with plastic technology and radio technology there was no excuse for Minelab. Plus they put the price up £250 after launch!!!!!!

Us detectorists should be pleased that XP are at least listening to what we want: Lighter machine, adaptable, with no wires to strangle yourself or get caught on things.

I wouldn't get an E Trac on the weight issue alone. They can do the business but can be hard work after a couple of hours in the field.

I must agree with you rjm as  due to work hadnt been out for a few months until last Monday, and suffered an aching arm for rest of week, after an afternoons session in Crickhowell with my se ;D

Though this bottle of old peculier beer that i am drinking at the mo does magically take away all aches and pains  ;D

Might need something stiffer if i had to cough up the cost of a Deus  ;D

I hope when you get it ( Deus), its all its cracked up to be and find gold  ;)
