There will be plenty more to come yet ;) I still enjoy finding those cartwheels but even they don't come up that often! Hammered next? Good luck. Title: Re: My 1st coin Post by: Neil on February 09, 2009, 08:52:51 AM Well done Rob - believe it or not they are not that common a find.
1797 is a good year to start with your first coin. Where ever you found that, there is likely to be more of the same age or earlier. Keep at it Neil Title: Re: My 1st coin Post by: hedgehog on February 09, 2009, 11:45:19 AM Good historical coin that Taff, they weighed one oz and copper cost a penny an oz, think it was Boulton and Watt showing off the power of their machines at the Soho mint in Birmingham, took them a short while to realise that it wasn't economically wise to produce them!
If you were daft enough to carry a quids worth around it weighed over a stone (15 lbs) Title: Re: My 1st coin Post by: James on February 16, 2009, 02:06:13 AM welldone mate!!!! not a bad first coin ;)
