Post by: mickycoin "mick" on September 25, 2009, 11:27:28 AM
hi all , the finder of the hoard will be finacially set for the rest of his life, but will he still get the same buzz, everytime he leaves home to go detecting in the future after such an out of this world  find, lets face it.    It will not be bettered for a very long time  "if ever"  what are your views please

The financial reward he will get from the find will be fantastic, but if he's a truly dedicated detectorist, he'll still get a buzz from finding the odd hammered , milled silver ect.  On a far smaller scale , I've found hammereds , but when I dig up a nice Vicky half penny I still get a buzz.

I hope he continues to detect and I hope he still finds it rewarding to claim these 'insignificant' jewels of history back from the soil.

i know TAFF even if he found a £1000000 hoard he would still run down a field with his shirt over his head and his belly flapping if he found a hammy .........iv seen that in real life ;D ;)

I used to go fishing two or three times a week sometimes. Then I caught a thirty three pounds cod. Went a couple of times after but it wasn't the same. I wonder if the finder of this hoard will lose the thrill too?

With the money he will get he can go detecting with a new JCB (GT model of course ) as well to dig it up

I like Malcolms' idea - a JCB with a big bucket fitted and dig 6 foot trenches and detect over the spoil heaps  ;D It would sure work for me!  Rob - with your bad back, you could still dig - I'll hire you as my 'personal JCB operative' - just think - axe-heads, torcs, hammies ............... ;D ;D
