Title: Any saxon finds in wales? Post by: hedgehog on January 14, 2009, 11:01:48 AM Just looking at Phil's find and wondering whether (excluding North Wales :)) there are any finds from the saxon period, I have found it slightly frustrating in the past. Roman can be found but after that period the oldest coin I have found has been a Henry 11 penny and the oldest artefact has been Norman.

Your best chance in the Vale is either Penllyn, Cowbridge or Monknash, you might find items in other places but these places have turned up quite a few coins and artefacts from these periods over the past few years.
