After reading some posts onthe Forum, I was prompted to include the following here:-
Its good to keep your machine in clean condition, (important) also clean under the scuff cover.
The Tesoro operators manual says after use, clean the detector with a soft cloth to remove any dust, moisture, or other contaminants.
It also says,Never spray lubricants such as WD40 or any types of cleaners, sealants or other chemical preperation on or into the detector.
Treat your detector as you would any sensitive electronic instrument.
With a Tesoro it could affect your warranty.

Your Sidewinder may be getting on, but it probably still works as new.
If it is not, your lifetime warranty will fix it. Just give Tesoro a call.
Tesoro no longer make the Sindewinder, and used ones sometimes come up on Forums and Ebay, however they dont last long. I checked around and cant find one currenly for sale. One sold this month (Feb) for $225 US, it took 5 days to sell.
You could always buy a new comparable model ( Cibola). $425US.
I strongly recomend bringing your Sidewinder up to scratch and keeping it.
Thanks for using Tesoro .
Ken

I have a Lobo Supertraq with the 11.5 inch elliptical widescan coil. Any good for gold? Going to australia next year and if it is good for gold I'll take it with me, but otherwise will buy a GPX4500.   :)

Hi Aupump,
Simple answer is :-Yes very good for gold, the Lobo was developed primarily for the American gold fields and morphed into a coin machine. the supertrack has the improved ground balance so should be better on the Australian gold field where it can be like detecting on a sheet of iron because of the mineralisation.
If I was buying a vlf machine to go to oz with, then it would be either the Lobo or an Xterra 70-705. But you might be as well to keep an eye out for a 7" eliptical as the one you have is a large widescan and may be a bit noisy on their soils.

Just read the end piece of your post again, the lobo is a great detector but if you are thinking of buying a GPX then that is in a completely different league and is the obvious choice. If this is something you are seriously considering then I would advice you to get one sooner rather than later as there is a BIG learning curve and so many people get frustrated and sell them on because they have not taken the time to learn the machine.
