Title: Just a button
Post by: Dodtectorists on April 14, 2021, 07:22:47 PM
I suspect we all unearth many buttons of different sizes and designs.
This one came up the other day and i can imagine a bit of work went into making it as close up its quit intricate.
Any ideas as to a possible age?
Thanks.

I think you’ll find it’s a Dany button. I’ve attached a link to one for comparison. Not identical but similar.
Your has stood the test of time better than most. Nice find.

Thanks Val.
It was in great nick compared to others we have found.
Got quiet a collection of the big silver ones coming, mostly blank but some do have nice patterns when cleaned.

It's nice to find one that isn't blank :) - it's come up quite nice!

I have one part of a field that I have dug over 500 buttons from - and whilst most are blank those other ones make up for it, but in general I don't really know how to date them beyond a particular century :)
