Title: Return match at Talacre.
Post by: Resurgam on December 04, 2019, 08:12:21 PM
Spent today on the Talacre sands and came up with one maritime nail some WWII scrap, one two p decimal coin, and strangely one George II halfpenny. Despite the chilly wind, it wasn't too bad providing that I kept my back to the wind.

The red flag fluttered strongly on the flag staff at the beach entrance, I wonder if it may be an omen for the comming election?  ::)

I’ll say y prayers tonight Chris.

Good effort there though Chris. I haven’t got a George 11 copper, isn’t that strange. All the coppers I’ve found over the years !

Had a couple of hours on some new fields this afternoon. Found a Half Crown, (lovely ) 20p, 1p a George 5th penny, bag seal and some old tat. Not bad as I go these days.

Nice going Val, a halfcrown was big pocket money when I was a lad; not that I ever got many. I have only ever had one George halfcrown off Talacre and strangely enough, on the same day, I found a house shaped dogtag with the name george stamped on it.
I don't know the reason for it but I never get any Victorian coinage of Talacre; unless time and tide has dragged it all out into the Mostyn Deep. With Christmas on the way, I think it will be January before I get down the coast again but hopefully I will be able to get back onto my permissions and see what turns up.

As an aside; I called in Mc Donalds in Flint for a coffee and an Egg Mc Muffin on my way down the coast this morning. I had to use one of their new fangled ordering machines and it asked if I wanted to order in Welsh, English, or ...….. POLISH!
I then popped into ASDA for some topup water for the screen washer on the car and was amazed to see that all the shopping baskets had anti-theft security tags on them. Strange place Flint!  ::)

It’ll make a change Chris. I’ve been tempted by the beach but thought, no, waste of time.

The other, well, sign of the times. As if it ain’t bad enough having two languages on all the road signs. Bah ! humbug ! That’s what I say  >:(
