Having detected Talacre sands for a considerable number of years now, I am fully aware of the quicksand, or what the council refers to as 'soft sand' and tells us not to panic because we will only sink up to the waist, if at all. As I understand it, and from personal observations, the areas of 'soft sand' tend to change and move around, depending upon the tides and the weather. Underground streams, running from higher ground, surface on the beach and fluidise the sand in the area where they surface. With all this rain that we have been having, I'm wondering if the 'soft sand' is presently more prevalent. Take care down there and always have your mobile phone with and make sure to keep dry and fully charged.
