Title: If you go down to the beach today -
Post by: Resurgam on November 13, 2019, 07:34:32 AM
- you may get a big surprise!

Having detected Talacre sands for a considerable number of years now, I am fully aware of the quicksand, or what the council refers to as 'soft sand' and tells us not to panic  because we will only sink up to the waist, if at all.

As I understand it, and from personal observations, the areas of 'soft sand' tend to change and move around, depending upon the tides and the weather. Underground streams, running from higher ground, surface on the beach and fluidise the sand in the area where they surface.

With all this rain that we have been having, I'm wondering if the 'soft sand' is presently more prevalent. Take care down there and always have your mobile phone with and make sure to keep dry and fully charged.

                                     Chris :)

All good advice Chris but I think this is going to be another low tide I’ll miss.

Wind from the north and single figure temps aren’t my idea of enjoyable detecting conditions.

Keep well & warm.
