Title: Walking Off The Christmas Turkey
Post by: roughneck on December 28, 2018, 05:04:15 PM
Hi Folks,
Me and Ron just had to get out for a few hours today.  Time to walk off the turkey and blow away the cobwebs.  It was a nice day to swing the detector around a few local fields.  Not fantastic finds but lots of digging, plenty of rubbish and a few bits and pieces.  Ron found the lovely George 3rd shilling, what fantastic condition, the best we've ever found and donated to the farmer for his collection.  All-in-all a breath of fresh air and a walk about for a few hours was all that was needed to replenish the batteries.  So we are now ready for the next foray which will probably lead us over the bridge somewhere in the not too distant future.  Cheers, and a Happy New Year to all our fellow detectorists and forum followers. Keep on digging folks!!! Tom.

Nice lot of signals there - and at least you got some silvers :)

Personally I seem to find a lot of spoons and forks, so at least I don't have to go to Ikea to buy any new ones :D

Well done Tom & Ron for getting out and finding. That is a lovely Bullie. Got to give George credit on the quality of the coins during his reign.

I got out for a couple of hours yesterday and again today,,,,,in the garden. Trying to tidy up after the builders. I know the weather has been gross but why are they such messy workers. Rather than have 3 dogs running over a mud patch I bought 4 X 600mm slabs to put down till I can restore the decimated lawn. Needless to say I had a taste of what it would have been like in the fields, without any finds (so what’s different ? )
Also had a taste of some digging, 1st time for many weeks. 3 Ibuprofen and away I went. Small, short hedge to dig up. I was find to start off but it didn’t take long for my feet to get heavier than my head, and bigger !
Good way to get some fresh air, excercise and build up those muscles for an outing to the fields. Turkey ! What was that ?

Thanks for the comments, Roly, Paul and Val.  We hope to post more finds quite soon.  All the very best for the New Year and hope you all find lots of treasure.  Cheers.  Tom.
