Title: A gift to the landowner Post by: Stanley on December 06, 2018, 09:19:31 PM Here is a small gift I gave to the landowner of a permission a couple of weeks ago. I have had to 'shave' the photo down a lot to reduce size.

It isn't quite the same :P I have probably given away more coins than I have kept.
That particular landowner has thousands of acres under their management so I hope they will offer me more land soon. As it happens, they offered me the coins back as they were overwhelmed by them (their words not mine). I'd much rather they sat in their boardroom than in my poundshop compartment box though :) If anyone out there wants to invite me to an ancient permission I wouldn't say no ::) Title: Re: A gift to the landowner Post by: probono on December 07, 2018, 03:52:10 PM Nice :) - btw what's the Medieval Ship exhibition like? I think they are planning on moving to bigger premises at some point...probably when they can rebuild the entire ship as some of the timber is still being dried out. A fair few artefacts and scale models. There are also information boards and things to keep kids amused. Somewhere out there you probably have some very old settlement. Have a look through British History on Line. Search for the area and you’ll find all sorts of info. Including old maps that will show footpaths, settlement, records of the Parish, Church records, population etc. Amazing what’s out there. If you find an interesting area, within the boundary of thier land, ask for permission for that spot specifically. If you think about it, all and any land is ancient.
