Title: Chariot Burial
Post by: Val Beechey on November 17, 2018, 08:45:29 AM
Heads up. Article in The Treasure Hunting Dec.issue about a Chariot Burial found in Pembrokeshire.
I heard about it a while ago but the news has now officially broken.
It’s being called a find of a life time and of National Importance.
It’s certainly a one off, first one ever found in Pembrokeshire, if not in the whole of Wales.

Hello Mike, nice to talk. Bet you’re still buzzing or maybe still in denial ?

Heard about it on the grape vine but as requested kept stchum till newsbroke.

What’s the latest or are you keeping it under your hat ?

Still buzzing when I contacted the British museum they laughed and said there’s no way as there was no known Celtic activity in the area you should have seen their faces when they got down to the chariot wheels and to top it off there was a 3 meter mass of metal objects underneath it. I can’t say anything about that part as yet but it’s huge a previously unknown Celtic village

Just sent you a PM Mike.
I heard the Archie’s were very excited at what MIGHT be there.
Your finds were rare enough and very beautiful. Can’t believe they were in such good condition. Things around this area don’t usualy do well. The stuff of dreams.
Just finding something like that would be thrill enough to last a life time, plus the recognition. Anything else is the cherry on the cake.
Mind you I hope you get a few cherries for that find.
I can’t wait to hear how the dig progresses, keep us up-dated, please.

The Celtic fort is 2600 years old so it could be as old as 600 BC but more likely first century AD

Well what can one say, fantastic and nice to see such an amazing find quite local to a few of us. Would be nice to see this featured in a future episode of Digging For Britain with Dr Alice Roberts.

What a nice idea. In fact a fantastic idea, a whole program devoted to the excavation.
Then I could record it and watch, step by step, the finds coming out.  ;D
