Nice unusual find Geoff. Knowing the age would help with further info. I know there were Polish prisoners of war in the country. Many of them stayed. I know one of them, a friend of a friend, so to speak.
That could be how it got here !

I think it must be bronze if it's a medal then.

I found them for sale on Polish numismatic websites. There is other varieties: silver, gold, brass and for breeding other species.
By font design those medals has been issued between 1930-39.

Well as it’s not gold of little intrinsic value, I’d say yes. If you do it in short bursts it shouldn’t do any harm.
I haven’t got one myself but have read a few reports of results obtained. Just little steps grasshopper  ;)

Can’t remember what or who posted the last report I read, he did say he did 1 min and checked then another 1 min and checked till it was just as he wanted it with some patena left. That sounds sensible to me.

I think I will leave it for a few day's until I get the courage, tried it on a Roman coin before and ruined it,  :(

Funny enough the farmer is a sheep breeder his self, I was hoping to get all the info I could and probably let him have it.

Looks like there may possibly be a lot of intrigue to be attached to your find Geoff. Perhaps lost by a Polish pow. Some poles did serve in the wehrmacht. Not many though! Or perhaps a Polish servicemen, who decided not to return home after the war.

Up date on medal
I eventually had a reply to my emails to the Polish Agriculture Industry,

I would like to thank you for the e-mail of 25 September 2018. I would like to kindly inform you that the Ministry of Agriculture (Ministerstwo Rolnictwa), which was responsible for minting the medal you inquired about, was operating  in Poland from 9 June 1951 to 10 July 1981. We believe that the medal was produced between this two dates. The only thing we know is that gold, silver and bronze medals were minted.
Yours sincerely
