Post by: Phil Aberaman on July 31, 2018, 09:14:14 AM
Hi All

Ive just bought a T2 and using it 1st time on the beach, ive owned an F75 in the past and know like the T2 they arent good wet sand machines.
What settings do you T2 users use on the wet stuff ?

If your on Aberavon on Sunday, come and say Hi !
It,ll be good to get to know peeps from here, ive been away from the hobby a few years.

i,ll be with my ole detecting bubby, im one looking puzzled and frustrated setting my T2 for wet sand lol

Hi Phil, if you are intent on beach Detecting, in my opinion you need to invest in a Minelab machine, they can be expensive new but there are a lot of good second hand ones out there.
Good hunting.

Ive had a Explorer 11  and Advantage Pro,
Im not weedy but found the Explorer to heavy to be enjoyable.

The F75 and T2 (virtually the same machine), are more suited to my type of detecting, i like to cover a lot of ground quicker, The F75 worked ok to a point on wet sand but killed dry and all types of soil.
Im going to do more Beach detecting till i can find land again, Im surrounded by the stuff so shouldnt take long.

I havnt been Detecting for 7 years so have to re-learn everything,

The T2 is a great machine on dry land and not too bad on dry sand if you drop the sensitivity down but it's a nightmare on wet sand. Good luck with it, hopefully you will get a few inland permissions to go at. Welcome back to the fold.

Cant go wrong with the T2 bud, forget the rest ;) I wouldn't use anything else now, been
detecting 35yrs.
As for T2 on beach. I couldn't say ??? , I have seen some vids of wet sand detecting with T2 , and when Ground balanced to the wet sand seems to work fine.
Goodhunting.

Im going back to my roots really, beach hunting.

I started detecting in the early 80,s with a Garret treaure Ace, things where a lot simple then lol

If the T2 is anything like the F75 which it is, i,ll need to drop the sens down like you said Dungbeetle, manual Ground balance, turn the volume down and only dig repeatable signals

Yeah, very few targets on the main bay, except the hotrocks (coke)
Like the F75 my T2 didnt like the wet stuff, it worked but definetly lost a lot of depth.
My Explorer would have killed it.

I will be looking for a dedicated beach machine in the future, but i needed the T2 for my local area which is mostly pasture and industrial.

That Machine have you got Matthew ?

Im not up on my frequency,s but i know continuous multi is best for wet sand like most of the high end Minelabs, but im wondering what single frequency machines (if any) would be a good beach detector.
I,ll google it when i get a minute.

Truthfully i personally didn't notice much difference between the explorer and ctx. I personally dont use the gps, only benefit to me is it's waterproof and wireless headphones. seems to be the same depths as the explorer in my opinion

No worries.
The scout seems to work well on the test vid/wet sand.
I owned a XP100 many years ago, when they first came out on market, lived in Cornwall at the time and used this machine on beach wet sand with great success. No chatter on wet. and good depth, it was always known as a decent single frequency beach unit at the time. I would guess the XP 150 which is now on market is maybe as good.
if u can pick up a used XP100/ don't think u would be disappointed.
