Well done:) - I too had hoped to be able to report something similar today!...

Today I finally went to my new permission in the Cotswolds - 1000acres that hasn't been detected for 30 years at least (at least with the owner's permission), and including a roman villa.

I found.........one denarius - and just junk apart from that - turns out the previous owner had dumped 1 foot of building rubble on top of the villa to fill in the lumps and bumps........!!!!

(But at least I found a denarius!)

Yes - it's my first one for about 3 years, so I shouldn't be disappointed - was just frustrated that all I was digging was lead sheeting and broken light bulbs....at least there is plenty of land in crop at the moment, and at the front of the house is a ridge and furrow field, so should be some good areas. Might even offer to run a trench or two across the villa / farmstead as it was dug in the '60s apparently, so it would be good to find out just how thick that junk layer is.
