Title: Macro pinpointer dead after battery change
Post by: Radnor Bandit (Ian) on April 13, 2018, 06:15:33 PM
Has any body else experienced this.
Changed the battery in my probe and now it won't turn on.
I not crossed the polarity and battery is nice and full charged.  Double checked it with multitester and it's reading 9.1v .
Any suggests greatly appreciated.
Ian

Hi Ian. Wondered if it was a similar problem to the one I had with the Garrett. It is, just the same, (apparently!)
Had a look at the reviews on Amazon and one, is by a lady called Clare. She said she had your problem and the manufacturers solution is =
Unscrew the top, remove battery, take a thin screw driver and carefully pull conecting tangs inside base of pointer towards you. Replace battery and it should work.
My solution was a thin piece of card on top of the battery, under the cap.
Hope one or the other will work fo you. It’s an expensive bit of kit.

Thanks Val. I've done the same fix with the Garrett,  it's usually the budget batteries that need a bit of packing as they are slightly shallower than the duracell quality.
The makro contacts are more sturdier than the garrett.
Strange thing is though it's just decided to start working again.
I left it on the bench in my workshop and gave up on it while I had my tea, now I've gone back to it, pressed the button and voilà it turned on as if nothing was wrong with it....maybe it was having a siesta! (or what ever the turkish equivalent is.)
Don't you just love micro electronics.
Cheers Ian

You should borrow my Cannon printer for a couple of months. I swear it sits there stewing up problems on its own, just waiting for me ask for a simple copy  ;D
