Title: Roman Brooch
Post by: celticspikey on April 08, 2018, 08:15:56 AM
Hi guys I had a few hours spare this week so I managed a couple of short trips. This came up on the first search.

Plate brooch of the 2nd-3rd century, enamelled and although the centre is missing its stone it has still got the pin attached in place which for these is unusual and very welcome........ ;)

You are very lucky with your land, it seems very forgiving, I find Victorian stuff in poorer condition, that very nice find would make my season. 👍

Nice one - I had a short time about 5 years ago where I found a number of plate brooches - the last one was like this (again with missing central stone), but gilded instead of enamelled. I keep asking the farmer if he'll plough the field, but he hasn't done yet :)
