Title: Todays finds
Post by: N8 on March 25, 2018, 07:40:14 PM
Managed to pop out this sunny morning and had a load of great signals which mostly turned out to be modern junk  and a whopping 7p in modern :'(

I did however find a 1918 edward penny and a nice little button. A pin possibly off a broach and an unknown
Its badly worn but you can make out a cross on the one side and the letters M O or O W on the other. Its thicker than a new £1 coin and heavy
Pic attached, any ideas welcome
Cheers

Well found N8. The thick ‘coin’ is probably a coin weight. Interesting cross if you’ve got it right. Needs some research. Or it could be a farm token (after thought) !
The pin looks more like a lynch pin with that loop on the end. A bit on the small side though.

Thanks Val
The coin is worn and i can only see the cross under good light, can't get a better pic though. I'll have a look into coin weights to see if i can find out more

Good research there N8 well found.
Beats me how they turn up in our fields. I found one a few years back. 8 reals, pieces of 8 and all that jazz.
